Planning a Wedding with Bella Sera

Planning a wedding can seem overwhelming, but Bella Sera’s Personal Wedding Consultant has over ten years of experience and is here to make sure your wedding is exactly as you’ve envisioned. Need a little help getting organized? We’re here for you.

You just got engaged. Congrats! Now What?

The first few days of your engagement will fly by. After all, you get to have dozens of “OMG!” phone calls and post your engagement on Social Media. Enjoy this time! Bask in the glow of using the word “fiancé,” and feel free to spend more than a few minutes admiring your newly decorated ring finger.

Once the initial wave of engagement excitement has passed, it’s time to start thinking about the wedding day! And the first thing you should do? Call Bella Sera and set up a consultation with our wedding consultant.

Meeting with Our Wedding Consultant

Planning a wedding is a big job, especially if you have a large guest list, which is why we have our Wedding Consultant work directly with every one of our couples! She knows the best local vendors, can help with budgeting, all of the little details and generally take worries off your mind.

When you meet with your Bella Sera wedding consultant, we’ll start by talking with you about your likes, dislikes, and style choices, while browsing the many packages and customizable options we offer. Whether you’ve had your day planned forever or if you don’t even know where to start, you’ll be able to curate the perfect day (with a little expert help, of course). Trust us, you’re in great hands!

You’ll also want to cover budget questions right off the bat. This will help eliminate any money stresses from popping up later in the process, and make sure we find the right vendors at your price point. If you’re paying for your own wedding like many modern couples, we offer investment plans, to help make things more manageable.

12-18 Months To Go

Okay! You’ve set a date and you’re both excited to get started. That’s right--today’s couples do plan their weddings together, so ladies, be sure to involve your guy if he wants to lend a hand!

At Bella Sera, your wedding consultant will walk you through each phase of the wedding planning process. The first phase covers the Big Picture, AKA the basic structure of your wedding. You’ll pick:

  1. A theme, if you’re having one!
  2. Your Color Scheme. Think about the time of year, your favorite colors, and what color will look good in a bridesmaids dress.
  3. The “size” of your wedding. Will it be 100 or 300 people?
  4. Your Vendors (photographers, DJ or Band, florist, etc.)
  5. Your Bridal Party (if you haven’t had it picked out since childhood.)

Helpful Tip: Don’t miss our annual tasting held in March. This is your chance to taste almost all of the menu options in a wedding-like environment, and meet our preferred vendors in one space.

A Note About Your Venue

You’ll notice we didn’t include “pick a venue” in the list above. That’s because, if you’re already working with our wedding consultant, chances are you’ve already chosen Bella Sera as your venue. But in case you’re still deciding, remember to think about what your needs are when choosing a venue. A gorgeous facade is one thing, but the perfect venue needs to go that extra step. For example, a park might have gorgeous views, but no indoor option in case of rain.

At Bella Sera, we’ve got your needs covered. How do we know? Because we don’t try to fit our couples into a cookie cutter. We sit with each couple and truly get to know you. We’ll take the time to understand what you’re looking for, and create a custom wedding plan that brings your special day to life. We think that personalization is the key to a great experience, and something that every bride and groom deserves.

Helpful Tip: Love the outdoors? We have the perfect space AND a Plan B! | Bella Sera has all the bases covered to make sure no matter what the weather decides to do, your day will be rain- and frizz-free.

3-6 Months To Go

This is the time to get into the little details. Do you have cake-cutters or do you want to use ours? Are you doing place cards or seating board? Those little touches will make your wedding your wedding. They’re also one of the most fun parts of wedding planning! In the months leading up to your wedding, our consultant will help you:

  1. Select your menu-- after an amazing tasting of course!
  2. Pick your cake flavors and style (again, be sure to try some samples!)
  3. Choose decor details, like place cards, linens and lighting options!
  4. Chat with vendors to discuss details, like “must-have” photos and specific flower arrangements.

Feeling a little overwhelmed by the amount of little details? Not to worry! Your consultant at Bella Sera is a seasoned veteran at planning perfect weddings. From champagne glasses to floor plans, she’ll make sure you get to each detail at the right time, so everything is in place on your big day.

Helpful Tip: Need advice on ideas? Reach out any time, and be sure to follow us on Instagram to see what other couples have chosen for food and decorations! P.s. Speciality linens & uplighting go a long way!

The Final Weeks

It’s time to meet up with your Bella Sera consultant and finalize your selections, guest count and payment. You’ll get another chance to look over everything, so you can be confident that the wedding day will go off without a hitch. Then, go home and relax! You’re getting close, so enjoy these last few weeks, and the excitement around the upcoming wedding.

1 Day Before: It’s almost time!

“Here comes the--” not yet!! The day before the wedding, you’ll get to do a “practice run” at Bella Sera. We’ll hold a walkthrough ceremony to make sure that everyone’s clear on the details, and you can work out those jitters. You’ll get to do things like lining up the bridal party, making sure the ceremony details are just right, and practice the iconic walk down the aisle. (Yes, it takes practice. You have to go slower than you think-- or want to!)

This is also the time for you to pass off any decor items, such as place cards, a card box, special champagne glasses or cake cutters, and wedding favors! Get them out of your hands and into ours, so you don’t have to worry about setting them up on the wedding day.

Helpful Tip: Don’t party too hard after the rehearsal dinner. Tomorrow is going to be a long day, so you need your sleep!

The Day-of: You finally made it!

You’re getting MARRIED! It’s really happening. On the day of, there’s lots to be done, but at Bella Sera, your to do list is pretty short. We just want you to Relax, Breathe, and Celebrate.

Relax

At Bella Sera, you and your girls can lounge in our newly renovated private and spacious suite that’s part-dressing room, part-kitchenette. All the details will be taken care of while you are prepping for your day, and you’ll be teamed up with two additional wedding managers so the event goes perfectly. Yep, that’s three wedding managers, all for you, bringing your vision to life! We told you, you’re in great hands!

Breathe

It’s time! Let the festivities commence. Your Bella Sera team will make sure everything is on schedule & moving along as planned. After the ceremony, your guests will enjoy drinks and hors d'oeuvres while you’re taking pictures outside in the Garden or in the Grand Room. Everyone will have an amazing time!

Bonus: We set up a private cocktail hour just for the wedding party!

Celebrate!

You did it! Go party with your friends, and enjoy all the food and drinks we offer at Bella Sera. At the end of the night, we will wrap up the top tier of the cake, any favors left over, and anything else you need. Plus, we’ll handle the cleanup.

Now go enjoy your honeymoon!

We hope you had the perfect day. Thanks for having a Bella Sera Wedding!

In today’s society, we can see a true blend of both sides’ tastes and the creation of some new customs, breaking some of the “regular” traditions that are well-known. Weddings now pave the way as the beginning of a new life together to also showcase some new evolvements from the historical conventions.

Whether it is a long journey from another state or a short trip across the river, families travel to be with each other during the holidays. Yes, someone has to be the host. It’s been that way since the dawn of modern times. We have all been there; your brother, sister-in-law and the kids have just arrived. Hugs and kisses abound, coats are taken, beverages are offered and there’s a feeling of familiar holiday excitement in the air. The adults do the catch up chatter about the drive (or flight), work, sports and life in general as the kids excitedly show their cousins their latest apps & social media escapades. Even the dogs sense the energy in the room and are engaged in a rousing game of fetch. All you want to do is relax and chat, but you need to get your apron on again and get back into the kitchen because that bird isn’t going to cook itself. In addition to the daunting task of actually preparing the food, you have most likely been stressed at some point, for weeks prior. What should the menu include? Should you stick with the family traditions or try something new? Where can you get all new placements and napkins two days before the holiday without breaking the bank? Bella Sera is here to take the stress out of prepping and cooking so you can spend more time with your family and more time browsing for the perfect place setting online. Our Thanksgiving and Christmas catering includes all the favorites, tastefully prepared by our expert culinary team and ready to be simply reheated and served. A la carte items are available, but the real showstopper is our complete meal which includes enough options to please even the pickiest family members. It’s traditional, with tiny twists. You can even tell everyone all about your “new secret recipes you spend hours sourcing, preparing and cooking” and your secret is safe with us!

Does this sound like a question you’ve played over and over again in your head? We live in Pittsburgh and the weather can be somewhat unpredictable at times! We’ve brainstormed up some fun & unique ideas to make the outdoor aspect of your wedding enjoyable, regardless of what mother nature decides to send your way on your big day! (Let’s take a minute to talk about rain. We’ve always got you covered for an indoor ceremony at our Grand Fireplace)!

We get asked many questions regarding our price points and what exactly they include. We are happy to breakdown our wedding packages for you and tell you why our packages include so much and make your planning 10x easier than you may think!

Maybe you’ve been planning your dream wedding for a decade, or maybe you just started. You might be most excited about finding the perfect dress (or jumpsuit , for the on-trend bride), or fantasizing about a jaw-dropping venue . But something you should add to your list of Wedding To-Dos is “consider guest accommodations.” Whether guests will be staying with you, your family, or in a hotel, we’ve done most of the thinking for you… after all, wedding planning should be stress-free. Plus, it’s a great chance to impress the future in-laws. Hosting at home? If you’re considering the more intimate and affordable option of hosting your out-of-town guests in your home, you’ll want to ensure they’re going to be comfortable and relaxed. Sure, your house or apartment isn’t a hotel, but that doesn’t mean you can’t provide thoughtful and stylish accommodations that would put Martha Stewart to shame. 1. Give them their own space: What’s nicer than being able to close a door behind you when you’re ready for a little solo time? If you don’t have a guest room, try a stylish room divide r to give visitors a private space they’ll love. 2. Make sure there’s easy access to food and drinks: Bottled water and some snacks are never a bad thing, plus guests won’t have to tiptoe around in the middle of the night looking for a water glass. 3. Identify nearby things to do: You’re going to be busy. If guests need to kill time for a couple of hours before the big event, provide a list or map of nearby restaurants, cafes, or farmers markets they can explore. They’ll probably fall in love with the area so much, they’ll ask to stay longer (It’s okay to politely decline). 4. Make sure everything is clean clean: This might sound like a no-brainer, but it’s easy to get used to a slightly weird smell in your downstairs bathroom or wine stain on the countertop. If cleaning is just *not* your strong suit, bribe your type-A friends with a 6-pack or, best case scenario, hire a housekeeper for a day. 5. Make breakfast an event: Who doesn’t love waking up to the smell of bacon? Get your guests excited and ready for the day with a fun (and maybe boozy) breakfast. Today is the day! 6. Take time to appreciate them: This weekend is all about you, but your guests have probably done a lot to get there, including taking a day off from work. Take a moment to tell them how much you appreciate them celebrating this special day with you.

Wedding cake isn't for everyone. For couples who have allergies, couples who don't particular like cakes, or couples who don't want to spend the $450+ on a single pastry , there are good alternatives. Really, just about anything can become a wedding cake if it's placed in a tiered structure with some kind of topper. These five, tasty, alternative wedding cakes look lovely when placed in tower form at the center of a reception table. Pies, Pies and More Pies For many people, pies are the natural alternative to cakes. One pie is often not as large as a single wedding cake, so for a standard sized ceremony, many pies are required to feed all guests. Choosing a range of pies, from fruit-based pies to custards, helps ensure that all guests will find something they like. You can spread your pies around the dessert table, but be sure to choose a principal pie, one that stands out as the pie for the couple. You can even place a decoration at the top of the pie, such as a statue of a couple or a whimsical ornament. Wedding Pancakes Pancakes are easy to stack, fun to look at, and can be topped with anything. A stack of wedding pancakes can even be tiered. Pile the largest pancakes on the bottom, medium-diameter pancakes in the middle and the smallest pancakes on the top. This is a smart choice for couples who don't want a big party or flashy decorations, but rather, a nice brunch with close friends following a morning ceremony. Pancakes are humble but sweet. They're easy to decorate with flowers, fruit or a little bride and groom statue. A Tower of Donuts Do you have a sweet tooth? Are you hoping to keep your wedding ultra casual? Why not serve your guests a tower of donuts and coffee? Donuts make a wonderful wedding cake because they're inexpensive and colorful. You'll save a ton of money too, by bypassing the expensive bakery. Tiered Cupcakes So you can't decide on the type of wedding cake to get for your guests? Why not offer a range of cupcake choices instead? Set up your cupcakes on a tiered structure and arrange them by type. Ask the baker to paint a symbol or sign on the top of each cupcake to indicate what type of cake it is. At the top of the tiers of cupcakes, place a small one- or two-tiered cake for the bride and groom. Delicious Local Fruit If you're getting married on a tropical island, this colorful display will make your guests’ mouths' water. Stack the fruit up high enough so that it rises almost above the eyes of the guests. For ease of use, include fruits that can be easily picked from the stack, like grapes. Also, sample all the fruits before picking the type of fruit to be in your tower. At the top of the tower, place an exotic flower to provide focus. Guests and couples on a diet will truly appreciate this healthy alternative to a wedding cake! Contact Bella Sera Planning your wedding? Contact Bella Sera for an appointment.
